This bhindi masala is made with very minimum masala, yet it is very tasty dish.
Bhindi Masala(Okra)
This dish is made with very minimum masala, yet it is very tasty dish. Even family like us who lives in USA, also cook bhindi and eat it very yearningly.
Ingredients
- 3 pounds Bhindi/Okra
- 1 no Onion(small)
- 7 no Green Chilies
- 5 no Garlic cloves
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tsp Fennel seeds
- 3 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 3/4 tsp Amchur/dry mango powder
- 3 tbsp Canola oil
- 1 n 1/2 tsp Salt
Instructions
- Wash Bhindi/Okra, keep in the strainer and pat dry with a paper towel.
- Cut the bhindi/okra.
- Cut onions into very small cubes, cut garlic cloves into small pieces. Grind mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds into powder, and mix this powder into coriander powder.
- Take one nonstick pan or wok, add canola oil, let it heat the oil on medium heat. Cut green chilies and add into the oil, add coriander powder and all powdered mix, and let it cook for a minute. Add bhindi to the masala, cover and let it cook for 10 minutes turning lightly between 5 minutes intervals.
- After that, make a little space in the bhindi, add a small cubed cut onion, let it cook for 5 minutes then mix with bhindi without cover.
- Add salt and amchur/dry mango powder and cook it another 5 minutes without cover. Bhindi/Okra ready.
Notes
If your are planning to make a bhindi/okra masala for one or two people. Buy the bhindi or okra 1 and 1/2 pound and reduce the masala quantity into half.
